Expressing Feelings with Flowers

from: Lawn and Garden Magic

Of all the wonderful things in this world, flowers a the one thing that seem to be a part of just about every culture in the world. Some types of flowers, such as the lotus, have significance in religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism. Other types of flowers are revered by many a poet and scholar. Indeed, everywhere you look there's a flower type that seems to be a reflection of a person or a group's goals and aspirations.

Flowers are lovely product of plants that serve an aesthetic as well as a practical purpose. Along with enhancing the attractiveness of a plant, flowers play an essential role in the plants ability to reproduce.

Each type of flower reproduces in a different way. Some come from bulbs while others grow from cuttings and still others from seeds. Some flowers are perennials which means they don't have to be replanted each year. There are also annual flowers, or those that bloom once every year and, did you realize there are even flowers that are edible -- yes, the variety is almost endless.

Giving flowers on special occasions from birthdays to weddings or even just on regualr days when you feel like giving something special to someone you care about, the flowers aren't just pretty things you can place throughout your home. They have special meaning, as well, with the meaning depending on the type of flower.
