How To Make Your Own Grass Skirt

from: Lawn and Garden Magic

Name another distinctive feature of Hawaai, as well as Hawaiian-themed parties, aside from "aloha" and beautiful and hospitable Hawaiian smiles.

That's right! I'm talking about grass skirts and how they have become a representative part of Hawaiian culture. And since the wonderful culture of Hawaii is so popular all over the world, the grass skirt has also enjoyed much fame. Can you imagine a tropical party without some guests wearing greed weed skirt? That would be like playing the Super Bowl without football!

Creating your own grass skirt isn'r difficult. There's no need to buy a plane ticket and travel to the beautiful Hawaiian Islands (though, if you could afford it, why not?) just to get one of your own skirts. You can make a one for yourself.

Simply follow the steps below:

1. Find a place populated by tall grass, about 15 to 20 inches in length. Make sure to get a bunch of grass near the outer areas, as venturing deeper in such a location may expose you to the danger of snakebites or nasty insects.

2. Get a thick, sturdy and sticky tape, like a duct tape or a packing tape.

3. Once the tape is pulled out, stick the edges of the tall grass along the sticky portion of the tape. The grass should be lined up well to create symmetry and balance.

4. Close the edge stuck on the tape with another tape, in a manner that would sandwich the ends of the grass.

5. Make sure the other end of the grass is even. Cut off any unsightly excesses.

6. You can place other ornaments on the waist band of your grass skirt. Flowers make nice additions for skirts that women will wear (yes, males certainly do wear skirts made of grass!).

7. You can secure the skirt around your waist with a clip, but it's recommended that two strings be attached to each end of the skirt so that all you'll have to do is tie them up together. This will be enough to hold the skirt, as grass isn't really considered heavy material.

Indeed, creating a skirt made of grass is that easy. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and this can be done with the simplest of things.
