Your Wonderful Bonsai Garden

from: Lawn and Garden Magic

Growing and cultivating Bonsai is a serious hobby for many people. They consider creating and maintaining a beautiful Bonsai garden an excellent reflection of their lifestyles. If you've decided to become one of the growing number of Bonsai enthusiasts, unlike other types of houseplants, Bonsai requires deep commitment and creativity.

It's not unusual for a typical Bonsai enthusiasts to want to build their own bonsai garden. However, fascination for these potted dwarf trees isn't the only factor in their decision to grow a nice collection of Bonsai. A Bonsai garden is believed by many to be a harmonious link between humanity and nature, and developing this association is possible with a well-tended garden. There are five basic elements that are necessary features of a Bonsai garden: a natural look, natural tree flow, branch structure, soil, and container.

Having a natural look or appearance is a vital element of ever Bonsai garden. Since Bonsai trees are simply ordinary trees grown as miniature versions, it's only proper for them to look as natural as possible, which means you can forget plastic decorations in your Bonsai garden.

Natural free flow is related to the first element. Since a Bonsai garden is made up of Bonsai trees in their very own natural habitat, the trees should possess symmetry. In other words, regardless if they were purchased pre-sculpted or you sculptured them yourself, their upper limbs should blend well with the lower limbs.

The branch structure of your Bonsai trees plays a crucial role in their health. Branches should be sculpted so they allow sunlight to reach all areas in the structure and to enhance health and emphasize the beauty of your Bonsai garden as well.

Top soil and soil found around the base of the trunk should serve to boost the tree's natural look. This can be achieved by the addition of typical growth at the trunk's base such as moss, pebbles, or miniature plants.

The container says a lot about your Bonsai tree. Make sure you choose one that complements the texture of the tree. To put it simply, a tree with a round trunk will look good inside a round container. A smooth trunk will require a Bonsai pot with the same texture. In general, the depth of the container should be about the same as the tree trunk's perimeter.

A Bonsai garden is a wonderful showcase of a person's imagination and nature's creative power. In addition, creating one is a rewarding experience that you will treasure.
