Tree Trimming Time

from: Lawn and Garden Magic

Having trees in your backyard can be a joy to behold. The beauty tress adds to your landscape and the shade they provide for outdoor fun for your family are benefits no one can dismiss. However, requires the responsibility of tree trimming when needed.

Tree trimming, of course, is an essential since foliage can grow unsightly, or worse, it can encroach on the vital areas of the house, or even your neighbor's property. Trimming trees isn't necessarily easy, but it can be a lot of fun. You're going to have to scale the top portion of the tree and reach some inconvenient areas to give it a good leveling.

There are simpler options, however. Hiring the services of a tree trimming company is the most likely choice. All you have to do is call a service provider nearby, and they'll send over a professional to do the dirty work for you. You'll have to pay, of course, the amount of which depends on a variety of factors, including the tree's size, foliage thickness, and also the degree of difficulty.

You can, of course, do this yourself. You'll need the following tools, however:

* scissors

* a ladder, or possibly even two

* a platform for trees which have weak trunks

* a harness for taller trees, along with a rope

* other appropriate safety items

The procedure is simple, at least in theory. All you have to do is to scale the tree and start trimming.

There are many trimming styles you can employ. Trees encroaching on power lines, for example, can be cut in a V-shaped manner so they won't threaten the neighborhood with a power outage without having to compromise the beauty of their foliage which may have taken years to develop. Trees encroaching on the house can be trimmed in a Y-shaped manner while the trees are still young, to promote upward growth that will train the trees to avoid hitting any structure as they grow taller and wider.

The bottom line is that tree trimming is a matter of common sense. Do what you feel is right, without jeopardizing your safety.
