Wonderful Evergreen Trees

from: Lawn and Garden Magic

If you ask a professional landscape artist: "what are the characteristics of the finest tree anyone can add to their lawn or garden?"

The answer will likely be a succinct. "Three words, sturdiness, color and size."

There are many kinds of trees you can choose for a variety of gardens and lawns. The trick, of course, is to find the right tree type that suits the needs of a particular area. The possibilities can be as diverse as the weather conditions, the distinct preferences, the soil type, the landscaping plan and the environmental factors that vary from one garden or lawn to the next.

Regardless, some trees do possess general qualities that make the universally desirable options to provide a much needed landscape lift. One popular type is the evergreen tree.

There are many varieties of an evergreen trees, but generally, they're great landscape pillars throughout the year. Whether they're exposed to the scorching heat of the summer, or the biting cold of winter, these trees usually endure. They're very hardy and are large enough to provide structural and aesthetic support for any garden or lawn. Most important, they'll never fail to brighten up the environment with the unceasing explosions of green they produce.

Indeed, evergreens are known for their needle-like leaves that don't wither or fall off easily. Evergreens can retain their foliage throughout the long which makes this tree type a great choice for Christmas trees, since their needle-like leaves take on a shade of white once snow accumulates in between the spaces.

Caring for the evergreen tree isn't as menial as the care demanded by other trees. Here are some simple tips that will help you make the most out of this tree type.

* Evergreens love mulch. Water retention is important, especially when they've just been transplanted. They need water, and often, lots of it, to firmly establish themselves in their new location.

* Though they're perfect for most types of weather, evergreens will benefit the most from being exposed to full sunlight. If you want rich colors on their leaves, make sure they're positioned in places where they'll receive an ample supply of the sun's glorious rays.

* Some types of evergreens can grow up to 60 feet tall, so do plan available space before deciding on transplanting this kind of tree in your backyard.

Evergreens make a great investment, given the three qualities that a great garden tree should possess.
